If there is one thing we learned from Emily in Paris on Netflix, it is that Emily Cooper surely knows how to juggle career chaos, style dilemmas, and love – often while sipping espresso in the most stunning locations. Season 4 has not only brought us back to the City of Lights, but has also whisked us off to Rome in Italy, where Emily’s budding romance with the dashing Marcello unfolds against a backdrop of sun-soaked piazzas and timeless architecture after her complicated saga with Gabriel comes to a bittersweet end.
While Emily’s Parisian life remains as glamorous as ever, her Roman escapades with Marcello, the suave Italian entrepreneur, add a new dimension to her adventures, making us dream of spontaneous trips between the two cities. We’ve taken notes from the filming locations in Season 4 of Emily in Paris to bring you several must-visit spots across Paris and Rome.
Place de l’Estrapade
Also known as Maison Moreau, the Place de l’Estrapade is a small square in the 5th arrondissement of Paris located nearby the Panthéon that serves as the exterior of Emily and Gabriel’s charming apartment building, an iconic mainstay across all four Emily in Paris seasons. The delightful square is home to a water fountain, bookstore, delectable boulangerie, and several restaurants. Just like in the television show, the square is also used as the exterior for Gabriel’s beloved restaurant, L’Esprit de Gigi.
Sacré-Cœur
The iconic white-domed Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Montmartre appears multiple times in the show in Season 4. This is not at all surprising as this gem of a location not only affords panoramic views of the city, but is also as impressive on its own as the Roman-Byzantine-style church boasts dazzling mosaic work within. When visiting the church, make sure to also take the time to roam around Montmartre, which is one of Paris’ prettiest neighbourhoods brimming with cafes, bars, restaurants, and quaint streets.
Stade Roland Garros
Early in Season 4, work brings Emily and her colleagues to the French Open at Stade Roland Garros, where she later shared a breakup kiss with Alfie for the kiss cam in support of the Ami campaign. Situated in the 16th arrondissement, this open-air stadium was used to host tennis and boxing matches for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and visitors can take a guided tour of the sporting landmark, which was built in 1928. The stadium is typically used to host the French Open, one of the four tennis Grand Slam tournaments, annually.
Hotel Plaza Athénée
Known for its opulent décor and celebrity clientele, Hotel Plaza Athénée is a landmark of Parisian decadence. It provides the perfect backdrop for some of Emily’s most glamorous moments throughout the show and in Season 4, whether she is attending a lavish soirée or simply enjoying a cocktail with her boss Sylvie. The hotel’s iconic red awnings and stunning views of the Eiffel Tower make it one of Paris’ most photogenic spots to stay at and visit.
Galerie-Musée Baccarat
Featured in the masquerade party scenes, the Galerie-Musée Baccarat is fine crystal manufacturer Baccarat’s flagship location in Paris’ 16th arrondissement and specialises in crystal and glass. To pay ode to Emily in Paris, Baccarat later partnered with the show to create a new version of its iconic crystal Coeur Amor, called the Baccarat for Emily in Paris “Heartbreak”. The flashy rococo-style museum is home to over 1,000 stunning pieces of crystal, with most of them made specially for princes and dictators of former colonies.
Crazy Horse Paris
In a bid to raise money for her Eurovision participation, Mindy ends up performing in a topless scene at Crazy Horse Paris, a renowned Parisian cabaret popular for its out-of-this-world stage shows performed by nude female dancers. The venue has also hosted celebrity performers, from Pamela Anderson to K-pop star Lisa. Feast your eyes as its 90-minute shows will have its Crazy Girls bedazzle you with a vibrant performance filled with audacious and brazen acts in a contemporary take of the mythical Parisian cabaret.
The Colosseum
This season, Emily takes a Roman holiday in the ancient Italian city thanks to the dashing Marcello, who gives her a private tour of the legendary Colosseum. Whether you choose to simply photograph the world’s most famous amphitheatre from the outside or explore the grandeur of the structure in detail, there is no questioning the fact that the Colosseum is one of Rome’s most visited landmarks. Founded between AD 70 and 80, it was previously used to host gladiator games and other events.
Trevi Fountain
No trip to Rome is complete without tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain, and Emily honours this tradition with Marcello in tow. In Season 4, the Trevi Fountain becomes a symbol of new beginnings for Emily. As she throws her coin into its sparkling waters, she wishes for love, success, and adventure — and with Marcello by her side, it feels like anything is possible. Legend holds that a coin thrown into the fountain will ensure a return to Rome, and every year, tourists toss a whopping €1.5 million worth of coins into the famous Baroque fountain.
Piazza di Spagna
A picture-perfect scene unfolds at Piazza di Spagna, also known as the Spanish Steps, where Emily and Marcello share a moment that feels like it is straight out of a Roman-tic rendezvous. The grand staircase in the centre of Rome leads to breathtaking views of the city, and in Season 4, it becomes a symbol of Emily’s blossoming relationship with Marcello. The emblematic steps are characterised by a butterfly shape that cross at the top, and also represent the majestic Roman Baroque.
Villa Borghese
Emily’s journey in Rome wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Villa Borghese, one of the city’s most beautiful parks. In Season 4, she and Marcello spend a romantic day here, surrounded by Renaissance sculptures and lush gardens. The sprawling park, which covers 80 hectares of land, offers breathtaking views of the city, as well as serene spaces perfect to reconnect with nature and take a break. It also contains a number of buildings, museums, and attractions, such as Galleria Borghese.
Trastevere
In Season 4, Marcello introduces Emily to the lively Trastevere neighborhood – a bohemian district full of narrow and intimate cobblestone streets, ivy-covered buildings, and hidden trattorias. The couple explores this alluring quarter, which perfectly embodies the Italian la dolce vita vibe. It is here that Emily begins to fall not just for Marcello, but for Rome itself, discovering its beauty and vibrancy away from the usual tourist spots.
