Tokyo is about to welcome a bold new chapter in urban culture, and it goes by the name JAPA VALLEY TOKYO.
Slated to open in 2027 at Yurakucho Park, this visionary precinct is the latest project by hospitality disruptors NOT A HOTEL, in collaboration with cultural icons Pharrell Williams and NIGO.
The concept? Imagine the easy luxury of California’s wine country – but reimagined through a Japanese lens. Out with Napa’s cabernet, in with curated sake from Japan’s finest breweries.
JAPA VALLEY TOKYO will serve as a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary creativity, brought to life in a limited-time cultural complex that spans fashion, food, sake, design, and art.

It’s A Vibe For Their Tribe
While NOT A HOTEL has made its name with remote, design-forward getaways, JAPA VALLEY TOKYO marks a major pivot.
For the first time, the brand is going urban – right in the heart of the capital. Think of it as a creative playground for Tokyoites and travellers alike. The project’s mission? “To weave art into the fabric of daily life.”
Expect a rotating roster of high-end fashion pop-ups, culinary showcases, immersive design activations, and even sake tastings – all set against a backdrop that feels equal parts Zen and futuristic.

A Visual Masterpiece Anchored by KAWS
Early renderings show a dreamlike architectural landscape. A network of arched, timber-clad buildings with floor-to-ceiling glass invite natural light and a connection to nature.
Green roofs soften the skyline, while the centrepiece steals the show: a massive, reclining COMPANION sculpture by KAWS, which adds a playful, meditative mood to the hectare-sized site.
KAWS – who previously worked with NIGO on a private NOT A HOTEL residence – returns here as the artistic anchor, curating select artworks throughout the space.

Because I’m So Cool…Clap Along
Tokyo has never been short on innovation, but JAPA VALLEY TOKYO pushes the envelope by merging multiple creative worlds: music, art, fashion, food, and hospitality.
With Pharrell Williams and NIGO at the helm – both visionaries with global influence – the space promises to be more than just a trendy hangout. It’s a cultural reset.
Whether you’re in search of Japan’s best sake, scouting the next big streetwear drop, or simply looking to explore cutting-edge design, JAPA VALLEY TOKYO will be the place to be in 2027.
