Inside Mauritius’ New Guerlain Spa at One&Only Le Saint Géran

Guerlain Spa is a design-led retreat that blends the soulful spirit of Mauritius with the timeless elegance of Parisian sophistication.

Mauritius – a land of raw volcanic beauty, verdant palms, and dazzling waters – has long been celebrated as a tropical idyll.

Now, this lush island gains a new dimension of luxury and serenity with the opening of the only Guerlain Spa in the country, nestled within the grounds of One&Only Le Saint Géran. But this isn’t just a spa. It’s a story of contrasts in perfect balance – where the elemental meets the elegant, and island soul entwines with French refinement.

Conceived by BLINK Design Group, the Guerlain Spa reimagines wellness through the lens of placemaking – a philosophy grounded in the spirit of place.

Drawing on the natural textures, colours, and rhythms of Mauritius, BLINK’s design brings to life a space where the senses are gently invited to rest, reset, and reconnect.

A Dialogue Between Two Worlds

What sets this spa apart is the dual harmony at its core. It is a space where two design languages – one steeped in Guerlain’s Parisian heritage, the other inspired by the organic palette of Mauritius – speak fluently with one another.

The spa’s interiors subtly evoke the island’s contrasts: dark, textured stone surfaces echo volcanic rock, while soft, flowing textiles, and curved French furnishings add warmth and refinement.

Treatment rooms are awash with natural light and kissed by the Indian Ocean breeze, their interiors softened by sisal rugs, carved timber, and mother-of-pearl feature walls that shimmer like the sea at sunrise.

Even the textures tell a tale – straw marquetry, rattan, antique bronze, and local stonework together to evoke the tactility of both land and luxury.

Outside, the experience expands into nature. Wooden cabanas and arched palms encircle a tranquil spa pool, while the nearby Indian Ocean glistens in quiet conversation with the surroundings.

Wellness Rooted in Place

This new sanctuary isn’t simply an aesthetic achievement. Its design is intended to enhance the wellness rituals and treatments developed by Guerlain Beauty Experts – a collection of experiences that blend the maison’s signature techniques with traditions rooted in Mauritian culture.

One such experience, the Stone Prelude, draws inspiration from local customs, using volcanic stones to connect guests with the earth.

These bespoke rituals – delivered in spaces that amplify their effect – elevate the spa beyond a destination. It becomes a bridge between body and landscape, between self and surroundings.
