In a stellar intermingling of Italian craftsmanship and cosmopolitan allure, Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has unveiled its first-ever café in the heart of Shanghai, marking a new chapter for the brand. Located on the second floor of its flagship store at CITIC Square in Jing’an District, the world’s first DG Caffè brings together the vibrant energy of the brand’s design and gourmet food and beverages, encapsulating the joyful Italian art of living, la dolce vita.
The opening of DG Caffè follows after the launch of Casa Dolce&Gabbana at Zhangyuan and the cultural and artistic experiences it brings to the dynamic city of Shanghai, signifying another milestone in the brand’s expansion to deepen its connection to Chinese consumers. Aside from the exquisite Italian cuisine, DG Caffè fosters a cultural and lifestyle exchange between China and Italy, using food as the unifying element that bridges these two rich cultures.
Dolce&Gabbana preserves its “Made in Italy” heritage all throughout DG Caffè, combining the essence of Italian cuisine and excellence in craftsmanship. The brand’s iconic, elaborate aesthetic is reflected in every interior decorative detail, from the vivid Sicilian Cart folk patterns that serve as a focal point, to the full embrace of Dolce&Gabbana’s distinctive Sicilian style, evoking a unique Mediterranean atmosphere.
Carefully curated for Chinese consumers, the menu at DG Caffè pays homage to traditional Italian cuisine, extending selections that cater to both formal dining as well as casual afternoon tea sessions. Diners will be able to experience the authentic taste of Southern Italy by way of appetisers, main courses, and desserts that are specially tailored for the city. Think delicate cakes shaped like Sicilian lemons and Dolce&Gabbana’s iconic roses, alongside classic tiramisu served in Moka pots adorned with the bold Sicilian Cart pattern.
DG Caffè further enhances the outstanding dining experience for its customers through exclusive partnerships with renowned Italian culinary brands, including Moka pots from Bialetti, wines from Sicilian winery Donnafugata, traditional Sicilian desserts from Fiasconaro, and pasta from Pastificio Di Martino in Gragnano, known as the ‘Home of Pasta’ in Naples, often considered the best city in the world for food.
“It is an honor to open the world’s first DG Caffè in Shanghai. We look forward to strengthening our presence in local market through DG Caffè, using the ever-evolving traditions of Italian cuisine to showcase the art of Italian craftsmanship and convey Dolce&Gabbana’s pursuit of the good life,” Alfonso Dolce, the CEO of Dolce&Gabbana.
